  • Revised Recruitment Calendar and Structure. Implemented online Pre-screening process with - streamlining and enriching student audition experience. Added on-campus callbacks from these pre-screens.
  • Travel to Moonifieds (Dallas) and Greater Houston Area Auditions, Unifieds
  • Created OUMT Preview Day – a special event for prospective students that aligned with fall mainstage musical performance. Gave prospective students a chance to get to know faculty, tour facilities, see student performances, meet current students and attend a main stage performance.

BROADWAY BOUND! A Celebration of Chicago's Top Theatre Programs. Worked with Northwestern Professor Emeritus, Dominic Missimi to coordinate a performance featuring the Musical Theatre Programs from Roosevelt, Northwestern and Columbia College Chicago (at Columbia) as a celebration for the Sarah Siddons Society Scholarship Fund
FWD THEATRE PROJECT: Facilitated a partnership between the Theatre Department of Columbia College Chicago and this new theatre company devoted to the creation of new musicals. Hosted their rehearsals on campus for three different shows and arranged auditions for students (three were involved in their first production: The Black and White Ball performed in January for 250 Theatre Industry folk at City Winery, Chicago and one was Asst. MD for Swift as Desire).

  • To align with best practices of competing institutions/programs, developed an on-campus audition process for prospective students interested in the BFA in Musical Theatre Performance prior to enrollment, a major addition to college-admission practices. Implemented in spring of 2015 & 2016 - the results: BFA major doubled in size to 53.

Courses Created:
(31-3926) Advanced Audition Techniques for Musical Theatre

A comprehensive course that empowers actors with the auditions skills needed for a career in the musical theatre industry. This class defines the audition as a fully realized performance strengthened by strategy, savvy presentation and marketing techniques. This course includes extensive exploration of song selection/interpretation, vocal style and performance tradition, understanding “type”, callback preparations and possibilities, and the casting process. We will explore the life of a professional actor from Unions to taxes and the reality of the business. Each actor builds an “Audition Music Rep. Book” and through mock auditions will prepare and perform effective, dynamic audition pieces for every genre of musical theatre.

These two courses offer academic credit for many levels of productions/performances.

(31-2850) Writing for Musical Theatre

Students from the Music and Theatre departments (and beyond) form partnerships and together, write short musicals. Their piece will be rehearsed and performed at the end of the semester. The participants will practice the art of collaboration and explore writing dialogue and developing story-line for musicals, setting lyrics to music, investigate how music functions in drama, work on developing character arcs, musical voicing and song placement. Additionally, participants experience casting, directing and producing their performances.

Attending monthly meetings, Creating Fund-raising initiatives – Produced a Benefit Concert in 2014 and 2015, directing main stage musicals, representing the theatre at community events – fund-raisers and Oak Park Arts League promo performances. Invited to join "The Leading Players" – a small group of theatre leaders in Chicago that will collaborate on fund-raising and events for this organization.

FWD Theatre Project – Have volunteered with this organization over since fall 2014 to help facilitate their work in developing new musicals. Served as a submission reader, hosted rehearsals at Columbia College Chicago, promoted student casting/internships, participated in a Brain-storming brunch with the board and industry leaders from Chicago.
